Serkan Gorkemli received a Ph.D. in English from Purdue University. He has worked as a lecturer for the Program in Writing and Rhetoric at Stanford University and is currently an assistant professor of English at the University of Connecticut. His research interests include literacy, computers and writing, LGBT/queer studies, and global and transnational media studies. His scholarship has been published in Reflections, A Journal of Writing, Service-Learning, and Community Literacy; Computers and Composition Online; Praxis: A Writing Center Journal; and The Writing Lab Newsletter. He is currently working on a monograph about grassroots literacies, lesbian and gay activism, and the Internet in Turkey.
